Is there something you’ve always wanted to try but didn’t think you could do it?  Well, I have always been a jewelry nut!  I love it and was constantly looking for new pieces.  But, a couple of years ago my “outside the house” job went from four days a week to two days a week.  So, needless to say, the finances decreased and I felt bad that I wasn’t contributing more to the family income.  Then one day I came across a YouTube video about how to make a necklace.  Wow!  Could I really do this myself??  I bought some supplies and, low and behold, I could make my own jewelry!  I had so much fun tailoring it to my wardrobe.  Eventually others began to ask me to make things for them and the thought occurred to me – I might actually be able to help my family AND do something I love.  Over the course of time jewelry expanded into wind chimes. . .  a logical progression, right?  Well, through a lot of prayer and encouragement from friends and family, the time came when I felt God was telling me I could start my own business.  From the very beginning I had a logo in mind:  a tree blown by the wind with huge, deep, strong roots.  My sister helped me choose a name from Jeremiah 17:7-8 (“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.  They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.  Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”).  I, also, knew I wanted the name and the shop to be something that would glorify and be a testament to the Lord.  So, Strong Roots Handmade was born!

I work out of my home (my son’s old bedroom to be exact) and love every minute of it.  I find myself looking at almost every object and asking myself, “can I hang chimes from that?”.   I love the creative process and turning it into something beautiful and, sometimes, a little quirky!  And, while my photography still needs a little work, (do you know how hard it is to take a picture of something blowing in the wind??), I hope you enjoy browsing and find something you love, as well.

If you’ve got something special in mind or like something you see but just need it in a different color, I am always glad to do custom orders.

Welcome to Strong Roots Handmade!  Grab a cup of coffee, have a seat and stay a while!!
